Frequently Asked Questions

Why not a festival this year?

Yes, I was supposed to be taking a break from organizing a tango event. But I just couldn’t stay away from tango. I’m sure you know the feeling. Anyway, I decided to organize a different kind of party, and you’d still have an excuse to visit New Orleans as well as dance tango. Win win, right?!

Can I purchase a milonga a la carte?

Only full milonga passes are offered.

Will there be a Second Line?

Yes! A live jazz band will lead the Second Line during the Saturday’s Gala Mardi Gras Milonga after the performance by Hugo Patyn & Celina Rotundo.

 Will there be any workshops?

The good news is that you won’t have to decide between workshops and seeing the city. The bad news is that you’ll have to choose between partying at the milongas and seeing the city. Life is full of tough choices, isn’t it?

Will the milongas take place in the same venue as the festivals in the past?

All but one of the milongas will be held at the venue used for the local tango community’s weekly milonga, the First Presbyterian Church’s Hall located at 5401 South Claiborne Ave. (Enter at the rear on South Prieur Street.) Sunday’s matinee milonga will be held at the House of Blues Restaurant and Voodoo Garden in the French Quarter.

Will there be a milonga on the Creole Queen riverboat?

This year we’re having a matinee milonga at the House of Blues Restaurant and Voodoo Garden. A buffet is included with a cash bar. The House of Blues is located in the French Quarter at 225 Decatur Street.
