Big Easy Tango Weekend
June 12 - 14, 2020

Cancelled due to Covid

Posted on Facebook April 16, 2020

I’ve been holding out for a glimmer of hope, but it’s time to look to 2021 for the Big Easy Tango Weekend. Okay, okay, okay. One can argue it’s past time, given that New Orleans has been hit hard, but my tango addiction caused me to delay the inevitable. Also, given the format of the event and long-term relationship with my suppliers, I had the luxury of being able to wait. Those of you who registered should have received an email confirming that a full refund was processed. If you have any questions, send me an email at info@nolatangofestival.com.

Meanwhile, some instructors that I’ve had the pleasure of working with in the past have found creative ways to help us satisfy our tango addiction.

HERNAN PRIETO, an instructor and great DJ, has a VERY ENTERTAINING online series on a platform that allows audience participation (Zoom), “Exploring the Tango History of Orchestras” His lectures features vintage videos, images, audio and amusing anecdotes about the musicians and life in Argentina during that era.
Sundays: at 8:00 pm CST. $15 payable via

CIKO TANIK & ADAM HOOPENGARDER are hosting Tango Cafe Takeout (a clever play on the name of their suspended milonga) on Wednesdays. Check out their Facebook page, Adam and Ciko Tango, for more information.

I’m looking forward to the day when we can get together to enjoy tango again. So I’m only going to say, see you later ‘gator!
